Is high mountain tea an Oolong tea? |Understanding Taiwan Oolong Tea Types with a Picture

Hello everybody, I'm Andy.

Today I would like to tell you about Taiwan oolong tea.

There are many types of Taiwan Oolong tea. They all have different names.

The name of the tea is confusing to many new tea drinkers.

Is high mountain tea an oolong tea?
Is the Dong Ding tea an oolong tea?

Today I would like to introduce you to the different types of Taiwanese Oolong.

Oolong tea is a kind of tea making method, which is a tea making process of partially fermented (oxidized) tea.

The non-fermented (oxidized) tea is the green tea, the fully fermented (oxidized) tea is the black tea.

It can be compared to persimmons turning from green to orange and then black.

In fact, most tea drunk in Taiwan is oolong.

It is called by different names because of its different characteristics.

Taiwanese oolong teas, ranging from light to heavy in the fermentation (oxidation) process, include the following.

Wenshan Baozhong tea
High Mountain Oolong Tea
Dong Ding Oolong Tea
Tie Guanyin Tea
Oriental Beauty Tea
Red Oolong Tea

The above teas are all oolong teas, although they have different names and colors.

In simple terms, if the tea does not taste like mung beans, or the color of the tea broth is dark red or dark black, it may be oolong tea.
